- Description: Mae'r gist hon wedi ei gwneud o baneli gwastad wedi'u cysylltu â phegiau pren y gellid eu tynnu pe bai angen symud y gist. Ar y tu blaen, cerfiwyd 'L A K A 1671' sef llythrennau blaen enwau Lewis Anwyl a Katherine Anwyl, Parc, Llanfrothen, ynghyd â'r dyddiad.
Defnyddiwyd cistiau fel hyn i gadw dillad gwely a llieiniau, neu sachau o flawd ceirch neu flawd. Gellid tynnu'r caead a'i ddefnyddio fel gwely ychwanegol. Gallai caeadau cistiau llai fod yn lle i roi baban, a gellid hefyd eu defnyddio fel arwyneb i dylino bara arno ac wedyn fel hambwrdd i'r toes godi.
Mae'r gist yn cael ei dangos yn 'Welsh Furniture' gan L Twiston Davies a H J Lloyd Johnes, 1950, plat 52; a mewn erthygl yn y The Connoisseur July 1977, 'Welsh Furniture' gan John Gloag.
The chest is constructed from flat panels joined with wooden pegs that could be removed if it needed to be moved to another place. The carving on the front 'L A K A 1671' are the initials of Lewis Anwyl and Katherine Anwyl, Park Llanfrothen, plus the date.
Chests like this were used to store household linen, or sacks of oatmeal or flour. The lid could be removed and used as a spare bed. The lids of smaller chests would accommodate a baby, and could also be used as a surface to knead bread on, and then use as a proving tray.
